Privacy...

I somewhat agree with the statement that Andrews says. I think privacy depends on what kind of social media that one use. For instance, one can block people on Facebook, so I don’t think a school or a job should be able to view what you put on your page. On the other hand, Twitter is a site that everyone has access to, no matter if you try to block a person, they can still see it. That is why I never and will never get a twitter. I also think that you should be aware of what you intend to put up, because it might bite you in the butt. I think it is alright to show “college pics” if you are still in college. People understand, so I would think that a business would understand what goes on in college. I think once you get out of college, a person that still acts like a “fool” and post silly things is just plain stupid. They are at their own risk.

Google

Google for years has been a favorite search engine for a lot of people. Lately, they have divulged in new technology that I would never fathom.  I never would have thought that Google would try and sell them self as someone trying to make it in the cable world, however; they have. The new thing that Google is trying to sell people on is that they can look up TV show on the web and they will show what they have. With Netflix, Amazon, and people's favorite, the DVR, I would think that they would stay away from cable. It has not gone well with it so far, but sooner than later people around the world will give in and start using that product. This should bring up the question, is Google to powerful? Well, for me, I only use Google for a search engine. My main goal while on the website is to get research for ideas for art or for a paper. Others think totally different when new technology comes out. The problem is us, as Americans, we are so use to trying new technology when it comes out, and that is what Google thrives on. Why stop making products when they know that people are going to try them out. As Americans we shouldn't give into the power of Google or even new technology, and start going outside like we were kids. Back before this generation of technology most people went outside to play and didn't stay in to do stuff on Google. Why go have fun outside and maybe get a little exercise when I can play a game on Google. That is why we shouldn't allow Google to have such a big part in our lives.

Blog 1

Jason Kottke view was and is like mine when talking about blogging. There is not a whole lot that intrigues me about the idea about blogging. I think it is a bunch of nonsense to blog about your interests. He states, “As I've gotten older and the site's readership has increased, I'm less inclined to share my personal life with everyone.” (Kottke) I think that most people are not going to visit your site that often if you just talking about yourself. It feels like dating someone if you only do that. Plus, people can know way too much about you and turn that in to a negative light. I think that I will use blogs to inform people what I am working on as a graphic designer and also to use it promote myself to be able to get clients. You need money to live so I think that it is great if you can make a little change while doing a job. If one was to get information about media for people, than why not get paid for doing that, you are working right? Some people view that otherwise as being greeting. According to article on Jason Kottke one of his friends stopped following him because he had ads for money. He said that his friend wrote on his blog to inform him about the situation. He said, “The moment you slap an ad on your site it changes what that site is. It changes the terms of the dialogue. It just does. Doesn't matter how small the ad is, or how putatively useful: it indicates to me that, rather than being a respected peer with whom you are interested in having a conversation, you now understand me as an eyeball to be monetized.” (Kottke) Everyone point of view is going to differ in a way and that is what makes people unique. I don’t agree with his friend view. I plan on doing everything in my power to make, as much money as I possibly can and I think blogging is a great way in order to make a little change.
